Amazon Studios Announces Upcoming Mary J. Blige Documentary


Amazon Studios and Entertainment One have announced a new documentary about Mary J. Blige is coming soon.


The untitled documentary is being directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth and executive produced by Blige and Sean “Diddy” Combs.


The doc will also center around Blige’s past struggles with poverty, abuse, addiction and heartbreak while at the same time following her on a special concert tour as she gets ready to perform a 25th anniversary tour for her sophomore album, 1994’s ‘My Life’.


'My Life' is ranked as one of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time & Time Magazine’s All-Time 100 Albums.

Mary J. Blige has won four American Music Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards. Her Oscar noms in the same year were for best supporting actress and best original song in Netflix’s Mudbound, becoming the first person ever nominated in both of those categories in the same year.


Billboard ranked her as the most successful R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the past 25 years, with over 4M monthly listeners on Spotify.
