Good morning, my neighbors! Coming to America 2 is actually a thing that's really happening!

Arsenio Hall has closed his deal to reunite with Eddie Murphy in Paramount’s comedy sequel Coming to America 2, where he’ll reprise the role of Semmi, the trusted aide and best friend to Murphy’s Prince Akeem.

So far, Murphy and Hall are the only cast members from the 1988 original confirmed to return, although it’s been said that the likes of Shari Headley (Lisa), John Amos (Mr. McDowell) and James Earl Jones (King Jaffe) are expected to return.

They will also be joined by Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), who is playing Prince Akeem’s long-lost American son, and the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.

The sequel will be directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Empire) from a final draft of the script written by Kenya Barris, the creator of Black-ish and the screenwriter of Girls Trip.

Eddie Murphy released an official statement on Brewer's appointment:

“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming To America 2 is officially moving forward. We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”

Coming to America 2 (official title to be determined,) is now set to arrive at theaters (on a trail of rose petals,) on August 7, 2020.
