The rapper formerly known as Loon reunited with Diddy for the first time following his prison release.
On Sunday (Sept. 20), the former Bad Boy signee posted shots of them hugging, smiling and conversing amid their reunion at Diddy’s home in Los Angeles, California.
“Everything is not what it seems,” he captioned the photo. “After all that we’ve been through, the love cannot be denied. We’ve traveled the world together, made millions together, and at times we may not have always agreed, but by Allah, if I hadn’t experienced the things that we went through, I wouldn’t have become the man that I am today!”
Loon collaborated with Diddy on “I Need A Girl” and its sequel before releasing his 2003 debut album on Bad Boy Records. In 2008, he quit the music industry, converted to Islam and changed his name to Amir Junaid Muhadith.
In 2011, he received a 14-year sentence for conspiracy to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin. A year later, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.
Recently, after serving only nine of those years, US District Judge Terrence Boyle granted him an early release, noting the Coronavirus pandemic as an “extraordinary and compelling” reason as he’s had previous health issues. Boyle also concluded Loon was not a threat to society.
Following the news of his release, Diddy welcomed him home via social media, writing “God is great. Welcome home. Get at me king. Love.”
