Today in Hip Hop History | Nelly Released His Second Album 'Nellyville'


On June 25, 2002 Nelly released his second solo album called 'Nellyville'. The album immediately went to #1 on the US Billboard 200. Also, the first single release, 'Hot in Herre' went directly the top of the charts and stayed there for seven weeks.


The album was supported by six singles: "#1", "Hot in Herre", "Dilemma" duet with Kelly Rowland, "Air Force Ones" featuring St. Lunatics, "Work It" featuring Justin Timberlake, and "Pimp Juice". The single 'Hot in Herre' and 'Dilemma' both topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for seven and ten weeks, respectively. Nelly achieved with 'Dilemma' his international breakthrough.


'Nellyville' sold 715,000 copies in its opening week and became certified six-times platinum by the (RIAA) for shipments of over six million copies, making this Nelly's second number-one album, second multi-platinum album, and second top ten in the United States, following his debut album Country Grammar in 2000.
