Today Marks the 1 Year Anniversary of Nipsey Hussle's Death

The marathon continues – but it's getting harder to breathe.

Tuesday marks the first anniversary of Hussle's death and his popularity and influence pushes forward as strong as ever. He won two posthumous Grammys in January, he remains a favorite of his hip-hop peers and his death has reshaped his hometown of Los Angeles in some unexpected ways.

Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot in front of his own Marathon Clothing Store. The suspect, Eric Holder, 29, was arrested by Los Angeles police and is being held in solitary confinement on more than $7 million bond, the LAPD says.

Nipsey Hussle was not just a Grammy-nominated rapper from Crenshaw who had a history with the Rollin’ 60's Neighborhood Crips.

He was more than that. He was Ermias Asghedom – a son, a father, a brother, a partner, a rapper, a business owner, a philanthropist, an activist. He was also just a black man trying to make it and give back.
